Mark Schroeder

For more than two decades, Mark Schroeder devoted his career to strengthening the credit union movement and helping credit unions better serve their members. During his 21 years as President and CEO of Corporate Central Credit Union, Mark led with vision, curiosity, and a deep belief in the cooperative philosophy of people helping people.

 

Under his leadership, Corporate Central grew into a trusted financial partner for credit unions, expanding services and embracing new technologies that helped credit unions remain strong, independent, and focused on their members. Mark was a champion of innovation, helping position Wisconsin credit unions among the first in the nation to embrace emerging payment services. He also believed deeply in the power of collaboration and played an important role in initiatives that strengthened the credit union movement, including helping fund the formation of the Wisconsin Credit Union Foundation.

 

Mark’s greatest impact was not measured in growth, services, or innovation. It was measured in the way he led. Those who worked with Mark knew that when faced with a difficult decision, he often returned to one simple question:

 

“Is this in the best interest of our members?”

 

That question reflected more than a leadership philosophy. It reflected who Mark was. He believed that decisions should ultimately serve people, and he challenged those around him to keep that purpose at the center of their work.

 

Mark’s legacy lives on in the credit unions he helped strengthen, the leaders he influenced, and the countless members and communities touched by the work of those organizations. His story is a reminder that some of the most meaningful leaders are those who quietly dedicate themselves to making the entire movement stronger.
