Tom Dorety

Thomas R. “Tom” Dorety dedicated more than four decades to the credit union movement, including 20 years as President and CEO of Suncoast Credit Union. Under his leadership, Suncoast experienced extraordinary growth and became one of the nation’s most respected credit unions, guided by his belief that financial institutions exist to improve lives and strengthen communities. His vision, integrity, and commitment to cooperative principles helped shape Suncoast’s culture and long-term success.

Tom’s impact extended far beyond the credit union. A passionate advocate for education and community service, he served as Chair of the Hillsborough Education Foundation, supported countless initiatives benefiting students and teachers, and served on the board of All Children’s Hospital. He was also a recognized leader within the credit union industry, serving in national leadership roles with organizations including CUNA, the Filene Research Institute, and the National Credit Union Foundation, helping advance the credit union movement across the country.

Tom’s enduring legacy is one of servant leadership, community stewardship, and an unwavering commitment to helping people achieve brighter financial futures.
