Crissy Cheney

commitment to the cooperative philosophy of people helping people.

A champion for member ownership, community empowerment, and financial inclusion, Crissy has devoted hertime, energy, and resources to strengthening credit unions locally, nationally, and globally. Her work has uplifted underserved rural communities, low-income families, small businesses, and organizations dedicated to expanding access to fair and affordable financial services.

​

For more than two decades, Crissy has supported credit union boards, international development efforts, andinitiatives that strengthen the movement. She was among the earliest supporters of the Global Women’s Leadership Network, contributing through fundraising, mentorship, and advocacy to help advance women inleadership across the credit union community.

​

Her global service includes participation in an early World Council of Credit Unions field engagement at theBusia Compassionate Centre in Kenya, where she helped bring attention, resources, and support to vulnerable children and families. Her continuing commitment to Africa is reflected in her service on the board of the African Cooperative Development Foundation, supporting cooperative development, inclusion, education, health initiatives, and disaster response.

Crissy’s impact also extends to education and community development through her philanthropic leadership and advocacy, including her service with the UC Irvine School of Education Dean’s Leadership Council. Through quiet dedication, generosity, and an unwavering belief in the power of cooperative service, Crissy
