Rudy Hanley, President/CEO, and the Board of Directors of Orange County Teachers Federal Credit Union (OCTFCU), Santa Ana, California, have informed Museum Executive Director Peggy Powell they will be donating $100,000 to America's Credit Union Museum for the naming rights to the Museum's Front Parlor. The Front Parlor is one of the original Museum Rooms and significant to the beginning of the credit union movement. It is in the Front Parlor where Mrs. Boivin, wife of the first credit union President, met with children making their way to and from school. Mrs. Boivin would deposit coins the children would bring her in a tin box, record their names and the amount they deposited in a ledger thus establishing their first savings account.
OCTFCU has been a strong financial supporter and advocate for the Museum since it opened in 2002. "To receive this level of support from a credit union organization is amazing," said Powell, "their leadership and participation serve as a re-enforcement of our goal to preserve and chronicle the history and success of the credit union movement."
