Liberty Donates $25,000 To America's Credit Union Museum

Manchester, N.H. - Liberty Enterprises, the credit union movement's leading provider of payment systems, marketing services and technology solutions, has donated $25,000 to America's Credit Union Museum.

Liberty President & Chief Executive Officer Stan Hollen presented the contribution to the museum on Aug. 24. Hollen said the donation commemorates Liberty's longstanding support of the credit union movement and its appreciation for credit unions' impact on Liberty's success. Hollen also cited Liberty's new business relationship with St. Mary's Bank, the nation's first credit union. The museum is housed in the original home of St. Mary's Bank.

"Liberty's history of success has been built on a strong and lasting foundation of solid relationships with credit unions around the country," said Hollen. "It's very appropriate for us (Liberty) to contribute to the museum's ongoing success. America's Credit Union Museum is for all credit unions and is an impressive and lasting tribute to the movement's unique and dynamic history.

Hollen said Liberty's support for America's Credit Union Museum continues the company's tradition of visible commitment to credit union causes, such as the Credit Union Campaign for Consumer Choice and the National Credit Union Foundation.

Gordon Simmons, chairman of America's Credit Union Museum's board of directors, and president and chief executive officer of Service Credit Union, Portsmouth, N.H., expressed appreciation for Liberty's donation.

"Liberty is well known for its commitment to credit unions around the country," said Simmons. "On behalf of the foundation and the museum, we thank Liberty for this generous gesture of support."

America's Credit Union Museum opened its doors during International Credit Union Week in October 2002. Peggy Powell, the museum's executive director, serves in the key leadership role for the facility. Powell has spearheaded the renovation and growth of the museum, a former residence that was home to America's first credit union established in 1908.

For more information, contact Powell at 503.629.1553, or Liberty Public & Media Relations Manager Rick Foy at 800.607.2435, ext. 5436.
