Museum Opens New Exhibits

The opening of a new exhibit at America's Credit Union Museum is always reason for celebration and 2008 was no exception. The opening of two new exhibits brought visitors to the Museum from across the country.

The African American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) Board of Directors and their guests celebrated International Credit Union Day October 16, 2008 with the opening of their exhibit African-Americans in the Credit Union Movement, The First 100 Years.

Members of the African American Credit Union Coalition celebrated the opening of their new exhibit at on International Credit Union Day.

Highlights of the exhibit include a timeline which highlights African American Pioneers and their contributions to the credit union movement, the history of the AACUC which was formally organized in 1995, as well as a list of Lifetime Achievement Award winners. A video chronicling the contributions of African Americans is an important part of the exhibit. The exhibit was made possible through the generous donations of credit union members and supporters of the AACUC

On June 4th, 2008 the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) Board of Directors opened their exhibit which chronicles the history of the organization beginning with its founding in Los Angeles, California in 1967. A series of panels highlight individuals who made significant contributions to the development of NAFCU as well as many of the legislative initiatives developed to lobby for additional credit union powers to protect credit union interests.

A video is also a key component of the exhibit. The exhibit was made possible through the generous donations from NAFCU and thirty-five of its member credit unions
