MISSION STATEMENT
“To commemorate the founders and the site of America’s first credit
union
in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1908 and to educate
present and future generations on the benefits of cooperative self-help efforts to promote thrift and sensible use of credit.”
The mission of America’s Credit Union Museum is to tell the human side of the credit union story. We seek to tell the story of
the movement in a way that will involve, inspire, and personalize the experience for our visitors. In the process, we will awaken
in the citizens of America and the credit union movement a renewed sense of civic pride.
VISION STATEMENT
“Preserve our past to build our future!”
Our vision is to create compelling exhibits and powerful, lively
story telling so that our visitors will be entertained, moved,
and surprised by the personal accounts of what it was like to live
in America during the Great Depression and what it took to build
the American dream. Visitors will come away from their experience
with a vivid picture of a period of American history when our ancestors
were in serious trouble, yet refused to give up. And with the help
of credit unions, our ancestors made a difference that continues
today.
